You are invited to join us in celebrating Winter Solstice also known as Yule. This is a sacred holiday –  holy-day honoring the triumphant return of the light. Winter Solstice is the time of the greatest darkness – the longest night of the year.  Long before Christianity it has been associated with birth. Many pagan traditions consider the Sun to be a representation of the …pure energy of light and love. They correlate the rising of the Sun on the morning of Solstice with the rebirth or return of the light.
It is in deep honor and awe that we sit in circle with one another on the eve of this holy-day. The actual hour of Solstice this year is 6:12 am EST on the 21st. We will be joining together with our ancestors, with our brothers and sisters across the planet; turning the wheel of the year to welcome in the return of light onto this planet. It is no coincidence that this very day also falls on the end of the Mayan Calendar.
The day of the rebirth of pure light onto this planet.  We will meet on the eve of the darkest night and together welcome in the light to our planet, our personal lives and our desires. As an extension of this celebration if you care to join us we will meet before the actual Solstice hour and sunrise on Friday the 21st and physically welcome in the sunrise and return of the light.
Please bring:   A new white, pale yellow, or gold candle (representing the light), a sprig from an evergreen plant (representing the hope which continued to grow even in the darkness) and a delicious food of your choice to share (representing the abundance we enjoy).
